Learn To Skate

The Ashburn Ice House is proud to administer Learn to Skate- USA.
This curriculum is the only Learn to Skate program endorsed by USA Hockey, US Speed Skating, Special Olympics, and US Figure Skating.
Classes are organized into age specific levels and designed for any beginner to acquire the necessary skills to enjoy the sport of Ice Skating for a lifetime.

  • Our Snowplow Sam 1-4 Classes are designed for our littlest skaters aged 3.5 - 6.5
  • Basic 1-6 take our Youth and Teen skaters from day one to more advanced Basic Skills.
  • The Adult curriculum is the perfect progression into any ice sport.

    All four age groups lay the foundation for FUN and any other discipline within the skating community.

We do not have make up classes. Refunds are ONLY given for the following situations  and are strictly enforced:
1. Notification of withdrawal from class two weeks prior to the first lesson. 2. Student medical emergency with copy of physician’s verification provided.

Whats Included

Your 30 minute weekly lesson includes:

  • Skate Rental
  • Public Skate Pass good for admission to any public skate during the duration of your lessons. (One public skate per lesson.)

Learn To Skate Class Descriptions

7 week registered Learn To Skate Student will have Public Skate sessions equal to the number of lessons purchased attached to their enrollment in our computer system.
This is intended for the 7 week registered student to come to the public skate times during the 7 week lesson period to practice the skills taught in class.
Check in at the front desk to receive your session sticker.

Skate Session Policies and Restrictions:
Pass is valid for admission to Public Skate Sessions Only.
Pass is for use of the 7 week class participant only.
SKATE RENTAL IS NOT INCLUDED (For the Public Skate Sessions)
Skate Rental during public skate sessions is $5.00
Pass is only valid from the start date of the 7 week class to the end date of the 7 week class. 
Unused passes are never extended.

First Day of Class Recommendations

Arrival time on the first day.
Students should arrive at least 15 minutes before class to get their skates on and prepare for class.

What to wear on the ice.
All students should wear a jacket, gloves, and warm clothes that allow them free movement on the ice.
Helmets are always recommended, especially for children six and under.

The Ashburn Ice House DOES NOT provide:
helmets, jackets, gloves, or socks.

Where to go when you get to the Ashburn Ice House.
If you are already registered for class you do not have to check in at the front desk. Proceed directly to skate rental to get your skates. Once you have your skates on, proceed to the designated rink to get your lane assignments.
